If you didn’t get any tickets for the main event this is the next best thing with guaranteed great view.
There is a massive job to do to recruit stewards for the Olympic torch relay coming through the County on the 24th and 30th May. If you want to be a steward for this historic event complete the attached volunteer application form – just to give an idea of the enormity of this exercise, we calculate we will need 300 – 400 stewards just for Shrewsbury! All volunteer stewards will be required to attend a two hour training session before the day (initial planned dates detailed on the application form). Please can you forward the application form to your contacts – being a volunteer on the day should guarantee a good view!
The routes through the County and the runners have now been published. The Torch will be travelling through Shrewsbury from about 11.45am to 1pm on Wednesday 30.5.12. The route through the town will be Welshpool Road, The Mount, Frankwell, Welsh Bridge, Smithfield Rd, Castle Gates, St. Mary’s, Dogpole, Wyle Cop, English Bridge, Old Potts Way, Haycock Way, and Wenlock Rd.
We would be grateful if you could circulate the below request for volunteers as widely as possible with your members so that we can have sufficient volunteers to steward the route. We are anticipating that many schools and residents from around the County will attend.

Just seen the poster at the library. Is it too late to volunteer? Many thanks mf
